About us

So what are these worldschooling adventures about? Who are we? Here’s a bit of information about me, Elle, and my family and why we created these worldschool hubs!

A little about our worldschool hubs

Worldschoolers are usually families whose children don’t attend school and instead are being educated while they travel the world!

The idea for these hubs is for families to experience adventures together.

Most hubs I looked at seem to be designed for kids to do activities while the parents work. We know a lot of parents have to work while they travel , but we wanted a trip where we could do things together as a family.

Do you want to see the excitement on your kids faces when they swim with their first whale shark or snorkel with dozens of nurse sharks?

Do you want to be active and meet other likeminded families?

Then our hubs are for you!

Hi! Iā€™m Elle, and this is my family. My husband, Ben, our daughter Amelie, 11, and our son Jax, 10.

We took the kids out of traditional school almost four years ago and we haven’t looked back since. We wanted to take the kids on epic traveling adventures and we’ve had some great trips so far šŸļøšŸļø

In 2023 we visited the Maldives as a last minute addition to a trip to Thailand. I’d done some research about where in the Maldives we wanted to go . The criteria were:

  • where whale sharks are most likely to be.
  • a local island to keep the cost down.
  • accommodation must have a pool as my kids like to have a non-saltwater option if possible after being in the ocean all day.

I narrowed it down to two islands in the South Ari Atoll. Perla Dhangethi got the edge because there was a five night package on their website that suited us.

We didn’t know what to expect but we had the most amazing time. The accommodation was lovely, the people were so friendly and the excursions we did were just incredible. We completely fell in love with this tiny, remote local island.

Towards the end of our trip, I had a chat with Siro, who manages the guesthouse, about organising a trip for fellow worldschooling families and he was very excited about it.

He’d never even heard of worldschooling before and I’d never organised a hub before so we created our own version of a hub with activities we thought would be awesome šŸ˜Ž

We started off organising a single two week hub in 2024, but it proved so popular we ended up organising four!

Then I had the idea to organise a hub in South Africa with some of the families who came to the Maldives. AND we’re going back in the Maldives again with five more hubs in 2025!

We’ve loved having these amazing experiences with the families who’ve joined us, and made what we hope will be lifelong friendships.
